Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and manage the delivery of a data migration and modernization project, transitioning enterprise reporting and data systems from Cognos to AWS S1 using serverless architecture. The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering the project on time while coordinating cross-functional teams, including data engineers, Informatica analysts, testers, and cloud engineers. This role requires strong expertise in software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile delivery, cloud migration projects, stakeholder management, and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of the Cognos to AWS data migration project.
- Define project scope, milestones, deliverables, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and tracking dashboards.
- Ensure adherence to software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, to ensure smooth project execution.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment to prioritize backlog items, manage sprint deliverables, and ensure continuous delivery of project milestones.
Team & Delivery Management
- Coordinate and manage cross-functional teams, including:
- Data Engineers
- Informatica Analysts
- Test Engineers
- Cloud Engineers
- Technical Lead
- Monitor team progress and ensure timely delivery of development and testing activities.
Stakeholder Communication
- Act as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders, technical teams, and leadership.
- Provide regular status updates, project reports, and risk assessments to stakeholders.
- Conduct project review meetings, sprint planning sessions, and retrospectives.
Risk & Issue Management
- Identify potential project risks, technical dependencies, and delivery challenges.
- Develop mitigation strategies to ensure project continuity.
- Manage change requests, scope adjustments, and issue resolution.
Agile & Delivery Governance
- Manage project execution using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and backlog grooming.
- Ensure transparency in project tracking using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar platforms.
Quality & Delivery Assurance
- Ensure that project deliverables meet quality standards and business requirements.
- Coordinate with QA teams to manage test cycles, defect resolution, and release planning.
- Oversee production release planning and deployment readiness.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain project documentation, including (but not limited to):
- Project plans
- Technical documentation
- Risk logs
- Change management records
- Prepare executive-level reports and delivery summaries and dashboards.
5–7 years of experience in IT Project Management in software development environments.
Experience managing data migration, cloud transformation, or data engineering projects.
Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
Experience working with Agile / Scrum project management frameworks.
Experience managing cross-functional technical teams.
Strong experience with project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Strong experience in risk management and issue resolution.
Experience managing AWS cloud migration or serverless architecture projects.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Knowledge of AWS services such as Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions.
- Experience working with data engineering or data platform teams.
- Familiarity with BI tools such as Cognos.
- Technical background in data engineering or cloud technologies.
- PMP, Scrum Master, or Agile certification.
