Job Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior SQL Developer with SSIS expertise to design, develop, and support robust data solutions. This role will focus on building and maintaining ETL pipelines, troubleshooting SQL code and SSIS packages, and ensuring reliable execution of data workflows and SQL Server Agent jobs.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in T-SQL, SSIS, and performance tuning, along with strong problem-solving skills to handle production issues, optimize data pipelines, and ensure data integrity across systems.

Key Responsibilities

SQL Development & Optimization

  • Design, develop, and maintain complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
  • Optimize queries and database performance using execution plan analysis, indexing strategies, and query refactoring.
  • Handle performance issues such as blocking, deadlocks, and long-running queries.
  •  

SSIS Development & ETL Management

  • Design, develop, and maintain SSIS packages for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
  • Build scalable and reusable ETL frameworks with proper logging and error handling.
  • Manage data workflows involving multiple source systems (databases, flat files, APIs).
  • Implement data cleansing, transformation, and validation logic.
  •  

Production Support & Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in SQL code, SSIS packages, and SQL Server Agent jobs.
  • Investigate job failures and implement fixes with minimal downtime.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement long-term solutions.
  • Support L2/L3 production incidents related to data pipelines.
  •  

Job Scheduling & Automation

  • Create, schedule, and monitor SQL Server Agent jobs.
  • Automate ETL workflows and recurring data processes.
  • Ensure job dependencies and sequencing are handled correctly.
  •  

Data Integrity & Reconciliation

  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, and consistency checks across systems.
  • Identify and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Support data migration and bulk data operations.
  •  

Performance Monitoring & Maintenance

  • Monitor database health and ETL performance.
  • Maintain indexes, update statistics, and optimize storage structures.
  • Analyze system bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
  •  

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Work closely with data engineers, application teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Document ETL processes, data flows, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Contribute to best practices, coding standards, and reusable frameworks.

Must-Have Skills

SQL Server & T-SQL

  • 7+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Strong expertise in T-SQL development (stored procedures, functions, triggers, CTEs, temp tables).
  • Deep understanding of query optimization, indexing, and execution plans.
  • Experience handling transactions, locking, blocking, and deadlocks.
  •  

SSIS / ETL

  • Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Expertise in:
    • Data Flow & Control Flow design
    • Package configurations & parameters
    • Error handling & logging frameworks
    • Incremental/delta load strategies
  • Experience integrating data from multiple sources (SQL, flat files, APIs).
  •  

Job Scheduling & Support

  • Hands-on experience with SQL Server Agent Jobs (creation, scheduling, troubleshooting).
  • Strong experience in production support and incident resolution.

Data Management

  • Experience with data validation, reconciliation, and transformation.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts (fact/dimension models).

Tools

  • SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
  • SQL Profiler / Extended Events
  • SSIS Catalog (SSISDB)

Soft Skills

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical mindset
  • Ability to work under pressure in production environments
  • Good communication and stakeholder coordination skills

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) or cloud ETL tools
  • Knowledge of Azure SQL / cloud data platforms
  • Experience with Power BI or reporting tools
  • Familiarity with CI/CD for database and SSIS deployments
  • Knowledge of Python or PowerShell scripting
  • Experience with data lakes or big data platforms
  • Exposure to monitoring tools (Grafana, Splunk, etc.)
  • Experience with high availability setups (Always On, replication)
